My Husband wants to be Jayne
Hubby loves Serenity and last year we bought a "Jayne Hat" off of Ebay for my ex BIL. This year, I had Knitschmidt make one for Hubby. He loves it!

Crisis Averted!
Thank God for a stash of finished knitted items! Christmas was as usual at the Knitschmidt household. Me dashing around at the last inute to get packages shipped back east and gifts finalized and purchased for the family here. The blizzard thet shut down Denver for two days starting December 20th didn't help the situation. But Christmas Eve found Mr. Knitschmidt and me breathing a sigh of relief as we took stock and assured ourselves that yes, everyone was covered and began wrapping.
Then Little Brother Knitschmidt came home for the night. With his girlfriend.
WHAT? Nobody told me she was going to be here on Christmas morning! You can't just spring extra guests on the hostess without warning like that! And I had no gift for her. What to do, what to do... Aha! A scarf!! The green or the orange? I chose the green, and she loved it. In fact, green just happens to be her favorite color. Who knew? And THAT is why you should always have at least one completed project just lying around just in case.

More furry scarves
The blue one was for my son's teacher and the red is for my BFF. :) I think I'll call the blue one Grover and the red is Elmo.

Calendars
I know this isn't knitting, but I had to share. These are the calendars I made for my aunt. They are perpetual, so it's great for birthdays/anniversaries. You can re-use them every year!

Almond Joy
Here is my latest project. I love it so much, I'm making in in blue and red for friends. :) I used 1 1/2 skeins of elf eyelash in almond (.99 at HL) and 2/3 of a skein of Lucious in Ice (also .99 at HL).

Yarn Stash Gone Wild
It started out innocently enough. Then it grew and multiplied. It's a lot like bunnies. So here's further evidence that I need a support group of some kind.
Oh! And don't forget the wool! (no, I didn't make the sweaters)
And finally, Moose the cat who is completely bewildered by it all and only wishes I'd let him play with some of the extra yarn!

Adventures in Fringe
I finished this scarf for my SIL Christmas present. It is the first time I attempted fringe. Most of the sites I found to figure out the best way to add the fringe told me to use a crochet hook. I don't own one of those and was way too impatient to wait to borrow one or to go buy one. Instead I just used a needle and knotted the fringe on.

Work in Progress
I want to finish this scarf already. I've made 3 others in the same pattern, only they've taken me less than 2-3 hours each! This one is taking forever because I'm using finer yarn and smaller needles. Very tedious. But I think it's gonna be pretty. I'll add some long knotted fringe to the ends when it's done. It's the pattern I showed Cartman's Mom that she's making the purple scarf out of.

Knitted Toliet Mats
In an odd way, I really like these. I think they are very cute and they don't seem to be as bulky as the store bought fuzzy-ish ones.
Here are the
instructions on Craftbits.
So, who wants to make me a light blue, yellow, and cream set for my duckie bathroom?

Is There A Support Group For This?
Hi! My name is Knitschmidt, and I have a problem. I've become what is commonly known as a "Yarn Ho." I hit the Hobby Lobby sale today. I took the hubby, figuring he'd keep me on the straight and narrow. Turns out, he's nothing but an enabler. When I couldnt find anyone to help, he hauled butt up that ladder to get what I wanted from the overstock. He encouraged me to "get some more!! It's really nice!" In fact, after my stop at the yarn store, I had to make another stop at Target to buy something new to keep all this yarn in. And the sad part is, it's only a drop in my yarn stash bucket (more pics to come). So here's the haul, and yes! As a matter of fact that IS a 68qt tub!!

Cartman's Mom - Felted Handbag
It's done!!! This took a while to make, but it was my first one so it wasn't gonna happen overnight right?! This purse inspiration and pattern of it's basic shape are from DIY networks
Knitty Gritty. I added a hand crocheted flower and some neat plastic purse handles to it. I think it's pretty cute! :)

Cartman's Mom - Stash
All this yarn for $20?? Yup! Big Lots is my new favorite place to buy yarn. $1 each!! Some of it was $6 yarn and some was only $2 retail, but I saved over $100 on this stash.
Now, what am I gonna make from all this???

Knitted DishCloths
My husband is one of "those people" that never wring out the dishcloth after doing dishes. Then I go to pick up the dishcloth to start doing dishes or wipe of counters or whatever and I end up with a handful of cold, wet, slimy, terrycloth. Gross.
However, I have discovered that when I use the knitted dishcloth, there is far less slime. It is still cold, a little wet, but I can handle that if there isn't any slime.
When I made the dishcloth I was still even more of a newbie that I am now. There are holes (accidental yarn overs) and it's really wavy and the number of stiches varies per row, but it works great on the plates that have ketchup or ranch dressing on them. I simply made a square (okay, square rectangle-ish thing, but you get my drift) out of Peaches and Cream cotton yarn and number 9 needles. I prefer a large discloth about that is between 6" - 8" square. Just a simple knit until you have the size that you want. You can also knit a long rectangle and then gather the material with a piece of yarn and it makes a "poofy". Those work really well on the dishes and they dry better when thrown into the sink by hubby.
You two can be slime free! Or you can just boot the hubby, I do that too.

Mommy the Maid ~ Crash Course In Knitting
Knitschmidt and Cartman's Mom have taught me how to knit. I am amazed that I was able to pick it up quickly and after only a few hundred mistakes, and a lot of laughter, I was able to knit scarves that acctaully looked like a scarf. I have not yet even tried to purl yet, but that will come with time.
I have finsihed three scarfs so far (and some really ugly dishcloths) and here they are:
This will be wrapped up shortly and placed under the tree for Miss Turtle to find on Christmas morning. It is a white furry yarn with a black "ladder" ribbon. It was difficult getting used to the fur and I kept sticking the needle through the holes in the "ladder" ribbon, but I really like how it turned out.
I made this one with some pink glittery ribbon like yarn from No Boundries that I bought off of Cartman's Mom for a Starbucks coffee. I am giving it to my 12 year old sister for Christmas:
I orignally bought this cotton yarn to make dishcloths. I made a few items that resemble dishcloths, but they are for our house and no one will ever know they were my work. As I started another try at a dishcloth, I realized it was not wide enough and I decided to continue the length and make a scarf for Little Bear to find under the tree. It's Peaches and Cream cotton and is so soft.
So there you have it. My first three attempts at knitting that acctually turned into something. Someday I will convince KnitSchmidt to teach me how to make hats. That woman has created some amazing things!
